The Cost: There are currently three membership plans to choose from, but you get the most bang for your buck when you select the 12-month plan. Shipping is always free. The cost of the plans are:
1-month plan = $16.99 per month
3-month plan = $14.99 per book, or $44.97
12-month plan = $11.99 per book, or $143.88
The Product: A panel of BOTM judges selects about 5 books and subscribers get to pick from these specially curated hardcover books each month. Skip any month you aren’t interested in and you even have the option to add up to two additional books for $9.99.
Why I Finally Joined: I’ve always loved reading but nowadays I find that the things I read are journal articles from the American College of Cardiology or scientific research papers for work. And when I’m not reading that, I spend too much time on the internet. I have access to the city public library and even own an Amazon Kindle but I find it too distracting to read on a tablet. I like the feel of a real book. I want to be able to turn the page and let my fingers skim through the paragraphs. There’s no feeling like opening up a good book and getting lost in it.
So when I came across an email from Book of The Month with an offer to try their subscription book service for just $5, I couldn’t pass up the offer!
My first pick is Behold the Dreamers by Imbolo Mbue, this book is about an immigrant family and their struggles in obtaining the American dream which I feel I take for granted sometimes having been born and raised in America.
My second pick (I couldn’t just pick one great read!) is The Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. They had me at Moscow. I’m a Bond fan. From Russia with Love was the first thing I thought of followed by a quick review on Goodreads.

Let’s talk about my latest obsession, the pajama top. When does the interest in Pajama Tops begin? I did a key word search on pajama top and pajama blouse and according to GoogleTrends, the pajama top started gaining some interest in 2004. The interest in pajama top peaks in November 2015– thats a slow and long running trend that has lasted almost 11 years.
Interestingly enough, this trend only seem to exist in North America but I’ve seen some pretty convincing pictures of why this trend will continue to slay well into 2017 from @deborarosa, a Parisian fashion blogger:
@chloehollywood gives us two ways to wear the pajama top:
I don’t need anymore convincing. I live in Philadelphia and we’re always arriving fashionably late for everything, including this trend. It’s so laid back, literally.
I love to share my finds so I’ve curated some pajama tops that you can look at from these retailers:
This full on Pajama Jumpsuit is ridiculous!!:
Are you a fan or nah?

I’m an immortal Bond fan. Undying. Through the good and bad, Casino Royale and Spectre — my love for Bond is unwavering. In Skyfall, Bond is seen wearing this waxed Barbour jacket at his ancestral home in Scotland.
So when Zulily launched Barbour for the first time today my heart skipped a beat and I couldn’t wait to dive into the sale.
I’ve been eyeing this waxed jacket since 2012. It retails for $599 but today on Zulily I found it discounted at $349. Items in the sale start at $49.99 and up. I was able to buy the last jacket.
The only downside of shopping on Zulily is that this particular item it won’t ship until October 9th. Oh well, I waited since the premiere of Skyfall to get this jacket so what’s another 2 weeks?
If you’re not familiar with Philadelphia then you won’t know the excitement that came over me when I walked into the Acme (it’s a supermarket here) and was greeted with BEER!
It’s not a big deal in most major cities across America but having lived in Philadelphia us Philadelphians are not allowed to purchase wine and beer anywhere but at a state owned store. It was such a huge inconvenience. If I ran out of wine for a party I would have to make a run across the bridge to Jersey.
I hated that our alcohol consumption was controlled by the government. It has been this way for over 80 years. If I ran out of wine on Sunday I was out of luck. State stores are closed on Sunday’s.
Philadelphians can also get direct shipment of wine to their homes now. Four years ago I visited The Castello in Napa Valley and wanted to ship a case of some incredible Cabernet Sauvignon home but was unable to. So I smuggled 2 bottles in my check in while my New York friends felt sorry for me.
While I try to stay out of the politics of it, I learned that it was the Republicans who wanted to change this antiquated law and the Democrates that wanted to keep us under tyranny.
I can finally agree with Trump on something, “Let’s make America great again”, cheers to that! 🍻
